IAGO: Virtue! a fig! 'tis in ourselves that we are thus, or thus, Our bodies are our gardens, to which our wills are gardeners.
- Othello (1602-04), Act 1, Scene 3
Last week of school. Beginning Thursday afternoon, my daytime tranquility will become a thing of the past. If I seem cranky, please understand, it is because I will no longer be able to finish an entire thought without interruption. When I'm on the telephone, they talk to me. When I'm in the bathroom, they talk to me. When I'm asleep, THEY TALK TO ME! But I am so thankful that I have two children and not just one. They play together reasonably well, and keep each other occupied for 15 - 20 minutes at a stretch sometimes.
I broke down and hired someone to cut the grass. With Handsome Husband away from home for work this summer, I just can't seem to find the time to do all the chores myself. I feel so much better having the grass cut. Isn't it amazing how tidying up around your home or workspace makes you feel better?

Discover Your Life Purpose: Find the Work You Love
Career Coaching By Lynn Launer
I would like to welcome you to the premier column of Discover Your Life Purpose: Find The Work You Love.
This column will serve to guide you through the process of following your passion and finding the unique opportunities available to you in your life as well as in your career. I will advise you on how to take the time to listen to your inner self as you manifest your life. I also intend to provide answers to job seekers' questions as they arise during the job search.
While you may have already heard many of the things I am going to tell you, I am sharing with you a concise platform to learn what I believe works to create the job of your dreams.
The following is a list of my recommendations on how to create a successful job search:
Be introspective to identify your ideal job.
Get clarity on your desired outcome
Focus your time only on your ideal position
Clear focus allows you to create your outcome
Put all of your focus and energy towards this outcome
Eliminate your obstacles
Plan strategies that are specific to this ideal goal
Lay a foundation for these strategies
Focus on today, tomorrow, and this week only within the scope of your overall plan
Stay true to your defined outcome
Conduct the job search in a way that keeps you clear and positive
Set a goal for how many contacts you will make each day
Congratulate yourself daily when you meet your goal
After you have met your daily goal walk away from the job search and do something good for yourself
One of the most common questions I am asked is:
QUESTION: How do I dress for a job Interview?
ANSWER: Research the company. What is the culture? How do their employees dress? Once you know this, plan on dressing one-notch up from the employees. In other words:
If this is a levis environment wear slacks or a casual dress
If this is an environment where the employees wear slacks or casual dress, wear a suite to the interview
The goal is:
To show you have made an effort because you are excited about the position
Not to dress so formally that you do not "fit in" with the team.
Another question that I am often asked is:
QUESTION: How do I work with a recruiter? Do recruiters charge money?
ANSWER: The majority of recruiters are paid by the employer at the time we make a placement so there is no charge to you for the recruiter's services. There are some agencies that do charge the applicant so ask about this upfront if you are not sure. You will want to research which recruiters specialize in your field. This will tell you that they already have a solid client base of companies who are your potential hiring employers.
Once you send your resume to a company your recruiter will not be able to present you to this employer because the recruiter's agreement with the employer usually states that whoever sends the resume to the company first is the "owner" of that candidate's submittal. If a recruiter does not have ownership they can not promote your skills and they can not get paid for your hire. For this reason research the company to determine the best strategy for submitting your resume, either through your own efforts or through the services of a recruiter.
It is important that you be honest with the recruiter if you have already submitted your resume to the specific employer. Most employers keep a database that records the source of the incoming resumes. If you are not open about this with your recruiter, it will not reflect favorably on your candidacy either with the recruiter or the employer. Remember, the right recruiter can be your best friend in your job search.
In the future I want to answer your questions so please email your career search questions to editor@extraordinary-jobs.com and if appropriate I will respond in a future column of Discover Your Life Purpose: Find The Work You Love.
We will work together to ensure you can be the grandest version of the greatest vision you have had about who you are.

Irish drinkers are so keen on new Lifeline hangover defence that its makers have been forced to produce a new multipack. Irish pub smoking ban is also helping Lifeline sales in Ireland.
Lifeline Hangover Defence, the Irish-made hangover preventer, is soon to be made available in a new multipack format, in response to growing consumer demand. In addition, Lifeline is being made available in vending machines in selected pubs and clubs to increase its availability to Irish drinkers, again as a result of consumer demand.
"Irish drinkers like Lifeline and recognise its ability to prevent hangovers before they even start, but often complain that it is not readily available" said Kevin Haig, managing director of Dublin based HPT, who developed Lifeline. "In response to customer demand, we are pleased to announce the availability of a new multipack, containing 14 capsules, as well as a series of new vending sites in city centre establishments."
Lifeline Hangover Defence is proving to be an Irish success story, with the product being listed in a number of major UK retailers and strong interest being expressed from potential distributors in Holland, Belgium and Scandinavia. "European drinkers recognise that a hangover preventer which works in Ireland will more than likely work for them also, as drinking patterns tend to be quite similar" said Mr. Haig.
And far from threatening sales, the impending smoking ban is actually improving things for Lifeline as some cigarette vending machine operators look for alternative products to vend in their machines. "The impending smoking ban has certainly focused some minds as to how profits can be maintained once smoking is banned - and Lifeline lends itself very well to vending in bars" said one manufacturer of cigarette vending machines.
"Drinking tonight? Busy Tomorrow? Better get a Lifeline!"
